FAQ's Frequently Asked Questions
Q. How do I get there?
A. Please set your Sat Nav for Roslin Glen Country Park. EH25 9PX. This will take you to the bottom car park. The road is called the B7003 and links the towns of Roslin and Rosewell. You need to purchase a parking pass with your ticket to park in the lower car park as there is limited availability. Family Tickets include parking already!
Please take care on the road there are some very tight bends and blind spots.
Q. Where can I park?
A. You can park within Roslin Glen Country Park by purchasing a car pass for £3 with your tickets. If you are getting dropped off or taking public transport, there free shuttle bus, which runs every 15 mins from Roslin to the event. Family tickets already include parking. If you are a Blue Badge Holder you can park for free. We will have accessible spots reserved if you let a parking attendant know on arrival.
Q. I don't have a car can I still come?
A. Yes, there will be a free shuttle bus every evening which runs every 15 minutes from Roslin to the Country Park where the event is taking place.
Q. Can I get there by public transport?
A. Yes, the number 37 LRT bus is great and has regular service from Edinburgh to Roslin.
The East Coast Bus service 140 is also brilliant coming through the towns of Musselburgh, Dalkeith, Bonnyrigg, Loanhead and Penicuik. See question on Shuttle Bus to find out how to reach the event site.
Q. Can I walk to the event
A. We advise against it! There are no pavements from Roslin so the main road is not safe. The path through the glen is steep and dark with the bridge being closed during the event. All attendees must come through the main vehicle gate or take the free shuttle bus from Roslin.
Q. Where and when is the free shuttle bus?
A. You can take the shuttle bus from next to the War Memorial. (opposite Dolly’s Cafe) The shuttle bus will leave every 15 minutes throughout each night.
Q. Can I buy a ticket on the gate?
A. Yes tickets will be available on the gate , however we advise getting your tickets in advance to get the day and time of your choice, particularly for parking in the lower car park as there are limited parking spots.
Q. What does the Family Ticket include?
A. The family ticket includes 2 adults tickets, 3 concessionary tickets and a parking pass for the lower car park. Children under 4 go free.
Q. Can I bring my dog?
A. Sorry, no pets as there will be a lot of fire and they might get spooked. Guide dogs and service dogs are welcome.
Q. Can I arrive with a larger group?
A. Yes you can, we welcome larger groups but advise purchasing your tickets well in advance to make sure you get the time and day of your choosing. If you are arriving in a large group please contact us at email@example.com to arrange your booking, discounts are offered to community groups and groups over 10 people.
Q. Do I need to print my tickets?
A. You don't need to print them but please download them to your phone in advance of arrival. We will need to scan your ticket code. You can print the tickets if you prefer
Q. Why do I need a time slot?
A. We have allocated the tickets in 30 minute intervals, this to prevent the car park from getting too busy and to stagger the timed walks. Please try to arrive at the car park for your chosen time slot. The time you choose is the start time of the performance, please try to arrive 10/15 minutes early to pick up your tickets from the box office.
Q. Can I take a minibus?
A. Yes, larger vehicles are welcomed but you must choose either the 5:30 or 7:30 timeslots Get in touch and we can arrange a group booking and large parking space for you: firstname.lastname@example.org
Q. How long does it take?
A. The whole experience should last an hour but allow for 1.5 hours.
Q. Will there be food and drink?
A. Yes, there shall be local traders serving up delicious snacks, hot and cold drinks, beer and wines.
Q. Will there be toilets?
A. Yes, we will have porta-loos and a disabled toilet.
Q. Is the event suitable for wheelchairs?
A. Yes, the ground is flat and the paths are well maintained. There are a couple of areas which are slightly more challenging to navigate and also there is some grass which may be affected by the weather.
Q. Will the event still go ahead if the weather is bad?
A. Yes we will go ahead in all-weather including rain unless there is a severe weather warning which might make the event unsafe such as high winds, floods or heavy snow and ice.
Q. What happens if the weather is so bad that it is cancelled?
A We will send notification through the ticket agent 'Citizen Ticket'. You will receive either a full refund (minus booking fee) or a replacement ticket for another day.
Q. Can I change the date and time of my ticket?
A. If there are still tickets available in the slot you wish to switch to we can change your time slot. If you no longer wish to attend, we do not offer refunds but you can transfer your tickets to a friend through Citizen Ticket or you can sell them on through one of their certified agencies. Q. What should I wear?
A. Whatever makes you happy! warm clothes and good footwear are advisable since this is an outdoor event in Scotland so prepare for the worst and hope for the best.
