Information

Emma (Ele Robinson) is new to the company. The Manager (Kate Gabriel) is new to Emma. The rules are clear, the boundaries are not. Join us on their journey as an absurd battle between the personal and the professional unfolds, and lines are blurred and crossed with irreversible consequences.
Contractions is a ludicrous, brutal and timely exploration of what happens when people become numbers, women become competitors, rules become unbreakable and work becomes play. Contemporary theatre collective whatstick theatre bring you an up-to-date twist on Mike Bartlett’s acclaimed two-hander, filmed live from the Etcetera Theatre on 18th June by Jessye Curtis and Alex Masika, directed by Georgia Brown and edited for release on 4th July by Kai Cook - from clowning to claustrophobia, this is one you definitely don’t want to miss!
