Using Dye to Breathe New Life into Preloved Garments

6:30pm ‐ 8:00pm
Online Workshop on ZOOM
Worldwide

Information

In this two part workshop, running Monday the 26th and Tuesday the 27th of April, you'll be taught techniques around preparing and utilising red cabbage dye to transform your preloved clothing into new, fresh and vibrant pieces!

These sessions will involve an exploration into different fabrics, mordants and dyeing equipment, as well as looking at ways to personalise your dyeing practice to suit your own needs and achieve different results.

You will first practice dyeing a number of folded patterns on recycled cloth before learning how to upcycle and transform your own chosen item of clothing using this traditional dyeing technique.

In addition to your own item of clothing you will need to have the below items to hand:

  • 1 Red Cabbage
  • Sieve
  • Muslin / draining fabric
  • Pan
  • Wooden spoon
  • Chopping board
  • Knife
  • Hob

This is an online workshop taking place over ZOOM – please ensure you have access to ZOOM prior to the workshop.

All additional materials that are needed will be sent out to the address given when booking via Royal Mail. Please allow 5 working days from the date of booking for materials to arrive.

Concessionary Discount Information:

Concession prices are applicable for those receiving benefits or who are currently unemployed. Proof of eligibility where possible will be required when attending the workshop.
