Hidden Door 2021 Day 3

4:00pm ‐ 11:00pm
Granton Gasworks
96 West Shore Road, Edinburgh, EH5 1QD
Hidden Door Event by Hidden Door

The evening will start with some rousing new tunes from Mother Almighty and Broken Records frontman Jamie Sutherland, continuing to build as electronic duo Maranta present a set created in collaboration with visual artist Chell Young; combining visuals and sounds to make something utterly unique and remarkable.

The party will really get going with "party-jazz fusion" 5-piece Astrosnax until it finally explodes with Ibibio Sound Machine, combining Nigerian beats and vocals with jazz horns and dance floor beats. This is the party we have been dreaming of!

Expect grooves, moves and afro funk; charismatic performances, a visual feast and a damn good party.

More to come!

The above line-up is just part of the multi-arts festival which showcases a diverse programme of music, visual art, theatre, dance and spoken word, alongside a series of creative collaborative projects. Stay tuned for more announcements coming soon!

We have also now revealed plans to transform a nearby disused warehouse into a vast exhibition and performance space as part of the festival. The additional venue will effectively double the footprint of the festival, allowing us to exhibit the work of recent art graduates whose degree shows were cancelled due to COVID-19.

About Hidden Door

Hidden Door is a volunteer-run charity arts organisation that opens up forgotten urban spaces for audiences to explore and discover incredible music, art, theatre, film, dance, spoken word and more.

We return this summer for an outdoor festival taking place 15 – 19 September 2021 at the epic Granton Gasworks site in north Edinburgh, set in the shadow of the iconic gas holder.

Over the five days, Hidden Door will stage a series of specially commissioned collaborations with Scottish musicians and artists, creating visually stunning multimedia shows and immersive experiences.

Organisers have spent the past year exploring potential sites for staging a safe, physically distanced outdoor event packed full of Hidden Door excitement, and we can’t wait for you to see what we’ve got planned down at Granton.

Our festival plans are being made in line with Scottish Government guidance and the event will be run in accordance with all relevant restrictions and safety measures.
